Zine 1: The Wedding Present

Inspired by the zines of Dishwasher Pete, I have always aspired to have own zine about work. I have written stories, sketched illustrations and taken countless pictures for my zine, but never bothered to assemble it. Until now.
The first zine is a web version of a photo album I made as a wedding present for Fred and Wolff. It documents one of the first projects I worked on with TUSI, building a drylaid retaining wall alongside a driveway during a very harsh winter. The photo album is much longer and full of corny jokes, most of which have been tastefully removed.
This double-exposure hand image was the TUSI web banner for a long time, and inspired our existing banner.
Our corporate philosophy: For a certain amount of money, we’ll take this…
…and make it look like that.

A delivery of Hooper’s Creek. The wall is mostly built of Maggie Valley fieldstone, balanced with some of the very straight lines of the Hooper’s.
A beeline of base stones and the first few courses of the wall.
A large capstone is cut in two with a rifting hammer and a sledge.
Everything packed up at the end of the day.
The wall nears completion. A thin line of snow traces the bottom edge of the wall.
When we finish, we smile.
